We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual for a temporary, full-time position to help us maintain and improve the state's transportation system. As a Roadway Evaluation Technician, you will be responsible for performing essential testing activities, traffic control, and ensuring safety on assigned sections of roadways. You will work directly under supervision, gaining hands-on experience while adhering to ASTM, AASHTO, and WYDOT specifications.In this role, you will perform basic engineering calculations and provide valuable data to engineers for evaluation. Wyoming is one of only nine states with no state income tax.Human Resource Contact: 307-###-####ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.* Learns traffic control methods, manuals, and procedures* Works safely around equipment in the work zone* Assists in the setup, maintenance, and removal of traffic control under live traffic conditions* Performs traffic control duties (flagging) to ensure the safety of the crew* Cleans, maintains, and assists in the repair of test equipment* Observe and learn the process for equipment maintenance* Provides the traveling public a safe direction through a work zone* Loads sample trucks* Learns how to clean, vacuum, grease, and oil equipment without damaging or knocking out of calibration* Performs various tasks such as keeping records, filing, and working with Excel spreadsheetsQualificationsPREFERENCES:Preference will be given to those with a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license.KNOWLEDGE:* Knowledge of equipment operation and basic maintenance* Knowledge of mechanical devices* Knowledge of basic computer operations* Ability to learn and understand the scope and importance of public and worker safety on the roadway* Ability to get along with co-workers* Ability to perform monotonous daily duties with accuracyMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:None - See "Preferences"Necessary Special RequirementsPHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:* Extensive in-state and occasional out-of-state travel is required* Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more and be on feet for long periodsNOTES:* FLSA: Non-Exempt* E-Verify: WYDOT uses E-Verify, an Internet-based system, to confirm the eligibility of all newly hired employees to work in the United States.
