About the Role

The Company is in search of a Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead its Investments Division and manage a substantial and diverse investment portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the division operates in accordance with the Investment Policy Statement, state and federal laws, and the mission and values of the Treasurer's Office. This pivotal role involves guiding a team of 10 investment professionals, developing and implementing investment strategies, and making recommendations on fund management to various governing bodies. The CIO will also serve as a subject matter expert, provide insights on financial, economic, and political trends, and oversee the daily operations of the division, including the supervision of the internal management team and the management of the investment budget. Applicants for the CIO position at the company should have a minimum of 10 years' of experience in managing institutional portfolios, with a preference for those with experience in private markets and a background in supervising and mentoring employees. The role requires a candidate with a strong educational foundation, including a Bachelor's degree in a related field, and professional certifications such as CFA, MBA, or CAIA. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of global economics, capital markets, and investment strategies, and have a proven track record of positive investment performance. Strong interpersonal, political, and diplomatic skills are essential, as is the ability to interact with elected officials and stakeholders at various levels. The CIO must be a visionary leader, capable of making tough decisions, and be committed to the financial health and growth of the State's investment program.
