Aircraft Maintenance Technician

This position is located within the 153d Maintenance Squadron (153 MXS), 153d Air Base Group (153 ABG), 153d Airlift Wing (153 AW), Wyoming Air National Guard. Its primary purpose is to inspect, repair, modify, and service aircraft systems, components, and assemblies, both on- and off-aircraft.

Duties include:

  • Performing inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft to include periodic, phase, hourly, preflight, postflight, calendar, thru-flight, and special inspections such as fuel contamination, emergency equipment, and oil sampling.
  • Troubleshooting and performing unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft, utilizing various gauges, meters, measuring devices, and other related test equipment.
  • May be required to perform user and organizational level maintenance on assigned support equipment, including inspection, repair, modification, and corrosion prevention.
  • Providing data for aircraft maintenance historical records, complete maintenance data collection, man-hour accounting, and other forms as required.
  • Instructing, directing, and assigning maintenance repair tasks to drill status guard members.

Requirements:

Open to current active-duty Air Force, Air Force Reserves, and other states' Air National Guard members. Must submit vMPF Rip, DVR, or CDB with resume. Employment Conditions:

Technicians are paid through Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer (DD/EFT). Military Technicians are ineligible for military enlistment, retention, and student loan repayment bonuses. Acceptance of a Technician position will terminate these military incentives. Acceptance of a permanent or indefinite position will cause termination from the Selected Reserve Incentive Program (SRIP) and TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS). Recruitment/Relocation Incentive IS NOT authorized. PCS is not authorized in lieu of incentives. If selected, you will be required to relocate at your own expense. Veteran's preference does not apply to National Guard Technician positions in accordance with Title 32 USC 709(f).

1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.

2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications:

Areas of consideration will be made as follows from eligible qualified candidates:

Area 1: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming National Guard (NG) WY ANG employees assigned to the 153 MXS.

Area 2: All permanent and indefinite Wyoming Air National Guard (ANG) T32 Dual Status technicians employed within the Wyoming Air National Guard.

Area 4: All current military members of the Wyoming Air National Guard.

Area 6: Current military service members to include the US Air Force, Air Force Reserves, and other states' Air National Guard units. Must be willing/eligible to join the Wyoming Air National Guard as a military member prior to appointment to position.

Minimum Requirements:

Must possess experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

Specialized Experience:

Must possess experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash-damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.

Military Requirements:

Selected candidates will be required to be in a compatible military grade and assignment prior to the effective date of placement. Must possess AFSC 2A5X1, Airlift/Special Mission Aircraft Maintenance.

Driver's License:

Must possess a valid state's driver's license.

Education:

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
