Summary

Under general supervision, performs a variety of administrative duties, coordinates service programs to support inmates based on population needs, and coordinates access to community resources upon release.
Essential Job Functions

  • Explains nature of Detention Center programs, procedures and services to inmates; coordinates and supervises activities, and accounts for fees for services.
  • Coordinates sign-up lists for programs, develops program schedules, and maintains files of activities and participants; coordinates delivery of program services with mental health staff and volunteers.
  • Provide entry level case management services to inmates within the scope of authority.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in all inmate matters.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive resource guide for individuals being released from the facility.
  • Assist mental health counselors with data entry and documentation.
  • Assist inmates in completing necessary paperwork.
  • Perform various office duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Associates degree in psychology, counseling, criminal justice, social work or closely related field. Must pass a thorough background investigation.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of County policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the principles of file systems, case files, and records management.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and various community services programs.
  • Skill in public relations and customer service.
  • Skill in effectively communicating verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with public officials, outside agencies, County staff and the general public while dealing with sensitive information.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer and utilizing a variety of software applications.
