Wyoming Air National Guard Security Officer

This position provides protection to the Wyoming Air National Guard Installation, all aircraft, personnel, buildings, and resources within the installation. To be eligible, candidates must be enlisted members of the Wyoming Air National Guard or members of the Army National Guard and willing to move to the Air National Guard.

Essential functions include providing entry control to Air National Guard facilities, conducting identification checks of persons and vehicles, maintaining logs, records, and security police blotters, monitoring base alarm systems, providing security and armed response to weapons and ammo storage areas, restricted and controlled areas, classified vaults, fuel storage facilities, aircraft, helicopter parking ramps, and hangars, investigating suspicious persons or activity detected on or near National Guard facilities, conducting physical security checks of buildings, doors, windows, fence lines, etc., conducting minor investigations into thefts, vandalism, property damage, vehicle accidents, and other law enforcement or security duties, and conducting routine checks of alarm systems and responding to alarm activations.

Preference will be given to those applicants with military or civilian police, correctional security, or similar security-related employment or those applicants who have attended the Air Force Security Forces Technical Training School. Required to obtain and maintain a security clearance (Secret) and Military (Guard) membership. Required to be deployed as a member of the Quick Reactionary Force team, which is part of a dual federal/state mission. Applicant must pass a personal security investigation and reference check. Applicant must be an enlisted member of the Wyoming Air National Guard. Required to meet Air Force Security Forces standards for arming and use of force.

Knowledge of industrial security, state directives applicable to the Wyoming Air National Guard (WY ANG), applicable Air Force instructions, manuals, handbooks, and pamphlets, WY ANG 153rd SFS/AW instructions, O.I., and plans, local laws governing detention, communication and investigation skills. Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, 1-2 years of progressive work experience in Security, or 1-2 years of military service experience, or successful completion of Air Force Security Forces Tech School. Must be an enlisted member of the Wyoming Air National Guard or a member of the Army National Guard, and willing to move to the Air National Guard.

Physical working conditions include passing the Air Force physical fitness test annually and working 12-hour shifts (4+4 flex).
