Safety and Access Control Operations
Position Summary

The Safety & Access Control Operations provides district wide coordination of access control processes, safety drills, and school-based safety operations. This role supports principals and district leaders by ensuring consistent implementation of safety procedures, without functioning as a crisis commander, investigator, or law enforcement administrator.

This Job reports to Executive Director of Support Operations
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
School Resource Officers

  • Coordinate meetings with SRO's and Executive Director of Support Operations
  • Communicate with SRO's, school and board schedules to ensure coverage
  • Maintain updates and contact list
  • Govern the MOU agreement between SRO's and the district office. Coordinate approval every year with District Legal Counsel, Chief Financial Officer and the Executive Director of Support Operations
Access Control Governance
  • Coordinate district access control procedures, including approval workflows and documentation standards
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for schools regarding access control questions and requests
  • Conduct periodic access reviews and audits in collaboration with school administrators
  • Access Control Coordinator will manage visitor restriction input in district systems as directed by authorized staff (Principals/__EXEC Director Student Services)
Drills and Preparedness Coordination
  • Coordinate district expectations for required safety drills
  • Track drill completion, follow up with schools, and maintain compliance documentation
  • Provide templates, guidance, and after-action tools to support continuous improvement
School and Principal Support
  • Work directly with principals to support building entry procedures, access control practices, and drill readiness
  • Assist schools with safety planning for special events using district guidelines
  • Support reunification planning coordination; system administration remains with the Technology Systems Specialist
  • Input visitor restrictions and alerts
  • Safe to Tell - Third party management notifies principals and follows up to ensure they have addressed and closed out the notification. Currently send back up notifications to directors and superintendent to follow up if necessary. This position will track and provide contact updates to Safe to Tell
Training Coordination
  • Coordinate annual safety-related training requirements
  • Partner with the Technology Systems Specialist and district leaders to ensure staff receive appropriate system and procedure training
  • Threat Assessment (meet monthly with the Executive Director of Student Services and Safe and Drug Free Facilitator provide support for this work)
  • Attend Monthly Emergency Management and Crisis Team meetings. Provide a written report to your direct supervisor
Continuous Improvement and Documentation
  • Artifacts - Maintain and update district safety procedures, handbooks, and guidance documents
  • Facilitate post-drill or post-incident reviews focused on operational improvement
  • Maintain Emergency Operations Plan. Review annually with your direct Supervisor Cross department workflow management
  • No trespass workflow, coordination, documentation, site communications, periodic review
  • Other duties as assigned.

Exclusions / Limits of Authority

This position does not:

*Serve as a 24/7 emergency responder

*Lead criminal investigations or threat assessments

*Oversee School Resource Officers or law enforcement

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a department, large work unit, and/or across several small work units; monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to significantly impact the organization's services.
Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Ability to learn and operate various software systems and train on these systems. Experience preferred in Emergency Management, Public Safety Administration, technology or other closely related field with significant years experience.

Education/Equivalency:

Preferred: Bachelors degree in job-related area with an emphasis in Emergency Management, Public Safety Administration, Industrial Science, or closely related field

Combination of related education and experience may be considered.
