Project Superintendent

This at-will position will be responsible for taking ownership of all field operations, and direct the flow of work consistently according to the project schedule. The Project Superintendent needs to have excellent communication skills and be well respected by the subcontractor community. The Project Superintendent and the Project Manager must work together as a complementary team. Standard functions and responsibilities vary depending on the scope and magnitude of the project.

Essential Functions:

  • Direct and Supervise Workers.
  • Lead and manage all onsite employees; this includes the ability to step into any of his employee's onsite roles at any given time.
  • Maintain the workload of all his employee's and delegate responsibilities when appropriate
  • Coordination of all site and building schedules and updates.
  • Monitor and control on site budgets that are within the Superintendent's control.
  • Maintain and update all onsite building plans and specs.
  • Ensure project is built to code and project specifications.
  • Prepare and request all RFI's for all of the sites, building, and engineering changes.
  • Conduct and document all weekly Foreman meetings.
  • Maintain a copy of onsite As-builds and Redline plans.
  • Maintain a good work knowledge of all Subcontractor scopes of work and contracts.
  • Document daily meetings with City Inspectors and business owners as necessary.
  • Create and maintain all field change directives and onsite Purchase Orders. When a Change Order is needed, it is the responsibility of the Superintendent to establish a price with the Subcontractor whenever possible for submitting the request for change.
  • The Project Superintendent shall be the first point of contact for any City, State or Government officials visiting the site.
  • The first point of contact for Safety Training, enforcement and emergencies, unless designated to others.
  • Responsible for maintaining all S.W.P.P. controls, unless designated to others.
  • Responsible for all dumpsters, portable restrooms, temporary fencing, equipment, and maintenance, unless designated to others.
  • Responsible for maintaining a monthly inventory of Wasatch Taylormade Builders owned onsite equipment, supplies, and tools unless designated to others.
  • Study Job Specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
  • Prepare and maintain the project schedule for the projects.
  • Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as painting or plumbing
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs
  • Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.
  • Evaluate construction methods and determine the cost-effectiveness of plans.
  • Responsible for all on-site activities and will report to the Project Manager for all questions and concerns that may arise.

Safety Responsibilities:

  • Learn and ensure compliance with all company, local, state, and federal safety rules.
  • Ensures that unsafe conditions are reported immediately to management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA or BS Degree from an accreted college (or 3 years related experience).
  • Experience with Adobe Writer.
  • Skill in analyzing problems, developing alternatives, and implementing effective strategies.
  • Must be detail-oriented, flexible, and able to multitask.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, have strong analytical abilities, and be computer proficient.
  • Computer skills should include word processing, spreadsheets, and Timberline, Microsoft Office Suite.

The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 25 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide disparity of environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, etc.
